I am learning to find halves, quarters and other fractions of sets and shapes.

"I already know half, but I learnt a third and a quarter.  It was easy to do the fractions.  There was nothing hard.  Mrs Wyatt and the Rectangles group all help each other to do their Maths."

I am learning about rhyming words.

"I learnt about different words when I am reading. It is easy to read some words. The big words are hard to read, and I need to sound them out.  Mrs Wyatt and Rory help me with my reading."

Obstacle Course with Youthtown

"The obstacle course was a lot of fun.  I could go around the poles and step into the ladder on the ground, and still be fast. It was hard to stay inside the monkey bars."

I am learning to write words with vowels as the middle sound.

"I wrote my Silly Sentence.  Nothing was hard, it was easy.  Mrs Wyatt helped me. I learnt to write lots of words with 'e' in the middle."

Whole Class Reflection – Art

Learning: “I learnt how to draw patterns.”   “I learnt to not put too much dye on the cotton bud.”.  “I learnt about tapa from Samoa, Tonga and the Cook Islands.”

Tricky: “Drawing some patterns was tricky.”  “The dying – had to be very careful.” “Keeping the vivid on the pencil lines.”

Proud: “The dye looked beautiful and I was proud of that.”   “I was proud of my patterns.”

Help: “I needed help to dye some parts of the panels, drawing over the pencil lines with vivid, putting the right cotton bud in the right container, knowing about different patterns.”

Next: “I want to learn more patterns.”   “I want to know more about the Cook Islands, Tonga and tapa.”  “I want to use vivids more in the classroom.”  “I want to learn more about drawing.”

I am learning to add relevant details to my writing.

In Writing we have been learning lots of things like writing our ideas in a sentence and writing some sounds in words.

Rangoli Pattern

We have been learning about different celebrations this term.  This is my Indian Rangoli Pattern.  We were learning to make our pattern look symmetrical.

"I was good at making my flower look symmetrical."

Tens Frame Patterns

We have been learning to draw number patterns to ten on our tens frame.

"It was tricky for me to remember what side to start the dot patterns on."

I am learning to use chunking to decode new words

In Reading we have been learning lots of things to help 

us to work out new words, and learning new letter sounds.

In Writing we have been learning lots of things like letters, basic words, and also remembering to do finger spaces between words.

In Maths we have been looking for numbers in every day situations.  We have been making sets and coming up with different ways to write numbers.

"I made the number 100 writing it with a felt pen.  It's a big number.  You can see 100 in the car."

I am learning to build my water confidence.

When we go to the swimming pool we do lots of things including safe entry into the pool, getting ourselves wet, blowing bubbles, floating with and without help, gliding and playing fun water games.
